02WiFi setup

Connect to WiFi

After flashing, the device opens a guided setup portal for your home WiFi.

  • 01
Device creates a “MakerStats-XXXX” WiFi hotspot.
  • 02
Connect your phone or laptop using password makerstats.
  • 03
The setup portal opens automatically — if it doesn’t, visit http://192.168.4.1.
  • 04
Select your scanned 2.4 GHz home WiFi, enter its password, and continue the guided setup.
Note
Stay connected to the MakerStats-XXXX hotspot until the portal asks you to reconnect to your home WiFi. If your phone says this network has no internet, stay connected anyway.
03Profile

Add your username

The device tracks one public MakerWorld profile at a time. No login required.

  • 01
In the phone portal, type a MakerWorld username, @handle, or paste a profile URL.
  • 02
Tap Verify profile. The device resolves the exact public MakerWorld identity before saving it.
  • 03
Choose your display style and screens, then apply the setup.
  • 04
Follow the progress shown on both the phone and CYD until the dashboard reports that it is ready.

Troubleshooting

If something doesn’t work as expected, try these checks before reconnecting the device.

  • ?
No port appears. Try a different USB cable — many are charge-only. Mac users may need the CH340 driver.
  • ?
Stuck at “Preparing”. Hold the BOOT button on the board while clicking Install.
  • ?
No WiFi hotspot. Press RST to reboot. The hotspot appears during first setup, phone setup, or after Change WiFi. It is intentionally off during normal home-WiFi operation.
  • ?
Won’t connect to WiFi. ESP32 supports 2.4 GHz only. Check that your router isn’t 5 GHz exclusive.
  • ?
“User not found”. Check spelling. Your MakerWorld profile must be public.
  • ?
Stats do not update. On the same home WiFi, open http://makerstats-cyd.local, enter the PIN shown in device Settings, and use Refresh now. Confirm the MakerWorld profile is public.
